Carbon Reduction Plan

B-A-R are committed to achieving Net Zero emissions at the latest by 2050

1. Commitment to Achieving Net Zero

B-A-R Electrical and Mechanical Services is committed to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050

2. Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline Year: 2025

This is the first year against which future carbon reduction will be measured.

Baseline Emissions:

Emission Scope Tonnes CO₂e

Scope 1 – Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources (e.g., company vehicles, fuel combustion).

Scope 2 – Indirect emissions from purchased electricity, steam, heating, and cooling.

Scope 3 – All other indirect emissions (e.g., business travel, waste disposal, supply chain).

3. Emissions Reduction Targets

We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to:

  • 50% reduction by 2030
  • In line with the UK Government’s 2050 Net Zero target.

Interim milestones:

  • 2025: 35% reduction
  • 2030: 50%% reduction
  • 2035: 75% reduction

4. Carbon Reduction Measures

Since the baseline year, we have implemented a number of the following measures and plan further actions:

Energy and Buildings

  • Transition to 100% renewable electricity for offices and facilities.
  • Installation of smart meters and building energy management systems (BEMS).
  • LED lighting upgrades and improved insulation.

Transport

  • Fleet transition to electric vehicles (EVs).
  • Promoting public transport, cycle-to-work schemes, and remote work.

Supply Chain and Procurement

  • Engage suppliers to report carbon emissions.
  • Include carbon assessment in procurement decisions.
  • Use of low-carbon or recycled materials where possible.

Waste Management

  • Zero waste to landfill policy.
  • Enhanced recycling and composting initiatives.

IT and Digital

  • Move to energy-efficient cloud-based services.
  • Use of virtual meetings to reduce travel.

Carbon Offsetting

  • Verified carbon offsetting for unavoidable emissions (e.g., through Gold Standard or VCS projects).

5. Monitoring and Reporting

  • Annual carbon audits conducted by External assessors.
  • Regular updates to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Carbon reduction performance published annually in ESG/sustainability reports.

6. Governance

Carbon reduction is overseen by Lindsay Greville. Progress reviews are conducted quarterly.

7. Declaration and Sign-off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and best practice carbon reporting methodologies.
